  • How to believe a lie if it's big

Interesting article about the latest Oliver Stone's movie. It is not just a movie review but it says how US citizens have been fed a lie (the link between 9/11 and Iraq)and how they still believe it.

During World War II, the predecessor of the US Central Intelligence Agency, the Office of Strategic Services, described how the Germans used the Big Lie: "They never allow the public to cool off; never admit a fault or wrong; never concede that there may be some good in your enemy; never leave room for alternatives; never accept blame; concentrate on one enemy at a time and blame him for everything that goes wrong; people will believe a big lie sooner than a little one; and if you repeat it frequently enough people will sooner or later believe it."

  • And now some music

Strangely enough for me I've not written much about music in this sort of blog. Well that is about to change as I've found a few good videos on YouTube (about 80 so far and growing but I'm not going to put them all here.)

This is something I saw on Later with Jools Holland last year or the year before which I liked at the time and I found again on YouTube last night. It is a hypnotic version by John Cale ex Velvet Underground of Venus in Furs.
As Velvet Underground are forever associated with New York, possibly the band that paved the way for a now long tradition of NYC art rock bands,it's easy to forget that John Cale is actually Welsh and a Welsh speaker.
