  • Just losing it

More than 7% of people in the US have experienced "intermittent explosive disorder" (IED) at some point in their lives, says Ronald Kessler of the Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts, US, who led the study.

This means they will respond to certain situations with inappropriate levels of anger, for example resulting in road rage or irrational, violent acts such as throwing a television out of a window during an argument with a spouse or parent.

I'm quite intrigued by this as yes I've met people (usually men but some women too) who seems to go in a mad rage over some trivial matters.

    anger

I've seen people even at work going into a "Basil Fawlty" mode and I've always asked myself whether it was a case of nature or nurture, I mean one is born overeacting or life makes one so?
I don't like to think that everything can be explained by genetics as it makes me feel that our lives are decided by the start and whether it is planets or genes I would like to feel that we have some saying on the matter.

  • Seven years with no TV

I also recommend watching the video of the programmes restarting in 1946 which can be found on the same page.

    televisions

I'm not a big fan of television, I probably watch about 20 hours a year if that but I wonder what it would be like if we had no TV at all for seven years. I think I could cope although I cannot see what people would be talking in the office while I would have serious withdrawal symptoms if I had to be seven years with no internet or PC. Playing solitaires in the evenings with real cards?
