Apparently something new has been happening in this country in the past five years. There are now over 2000 children detained in various immigration centres in this country.

John Reid, the freshly appointed Home Secretary has admitted that the current immigration is a complete shamble.
I'm not an immigration expert but I' d come to this conclusion long ago just by meeting people in London.
There does not seem to be a logical system, some people seem to wait in a limbo for years, their children grow up, form relationships while they are still waiting to know whether they can stay in the country or no. If a decisione has to be made I think it has to be made quickly in a matter of months not years.
I've also met a couple people that although they'd had the all clear from one Home Office Department to remain, they were still waiting for another department to grant them the right to work. So ironically, they had to rely on benefits to survive although they wanted to work (and eventually one of them received the go ahead and since then has started his own business).
While honest hard working people seem to have a hard time, it appears that anyone with a dodgy rating gets all their papers sorted out in no time at all ( at least this is the picture I get by reading the media). There are so many things I don't get.
