  • Another moral dilemma

Simple story: guy that murders policewoman turns out to be an ex convict that was not deported back to his own country because he could have been in danger.
Considering that anyone that any British national cannot be sent anywhere therefore the country will always have a fair number of home-grown criminal talents. Also taking into account that the vast majority of asylum seekers are law-abiding people who will never ever think of murdering anyone I think these arguments should always be approached with a degree of caution. I don't know much about the killer's background to make a full judgement, I know though that we should all be responsible for our actions and if I don't want or cannot go back to wherever I am from, I surely ensure that I don't give anyone any reasons to send me back.
I am not against immigrants and refugees, on the contrary if it were up to me I would allow anyone to settle wherever in the world they feel more comfortable. Lots of people do not share this view for whatever reasons and I feel that these kind of stories, always magnified by the media, serve the only purpose of consolidating those views.
I do not wish anyone instant death by deporting them to dangerous countries, but at the same time I have no sympathy for this guy, he blew it and I am not entirely in favour with the decision of keeping him here, as the outcome only adds ammunitions to people that I wish had none.

  • Local elections 2006

Tomorrow we vote again. I keep receiving the usual crap by various parties telling me how wonderful they are and have been. I am one of those people that thinks that if something is wrong, should do something, however little, about it. I only know that every time I tried to contact them in different wards I've never had a reply. It might have been a lot of old drivel, which I'm quite sure it wasn't, but then again they should have at least acknowledged it.
I might have been left with the idea that they are not listening. And these are the people that are supposed to represent me.
Strange how every four years they feel entitled to write to me with their old drivel.
Somehow, I don't think that the BNP's councillors are going to perform much better.
